The Emergency
Room at Logan Medical Center is unique among rural hospitals
in that it is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a physician
trained in emergency medicine. The nursing staff is trained
in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support & TNCC (Trauma Nursing
Core Course), and the emergency department is supported by the
ancillary departments (radiology, lab and pharmacy) 24 hours
a day.
Over 8,000 emergencies a year are treated at Logan Medical Center’s
emergency department. The emergency team is comprised of doctors,
nurses, radiology and lab techs, all of whom know how critical
quick diagnosis and treatment are to the full recovery of the
patient -–no matter what the illness or injury.
In early 2005, Logan Medical Center’s emergency department
underwent renovations to give patients more privacy and to construct
an isolation room to help prepare for the possibility of bio-terrorism
acts. These renovations were made possible through a grant provided
by the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
The Emergency Room is located at the rear (South) entrance of
the hospital. Please call 911 for emergencies or 282-6700 for
questions.
The Guthrie Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provide ambulance
service to the residents of Logan County. Guthrie EMS has 24 Emergency
Medical Technicians (EMT’s) all certified at either the
basic, intermediate or paramedic level. With three ambulances
on call for emergencies, transfers and backup, the Guthrie EMS
makes 1500-2000 calls per year. The Crescent School District is
served by two ambulances that are staffed by one of eight “First
Responders” and at least one of twelve EMT’s.
